A gas tanker explosion at Otedola Bridge, Lagos, has claimed two lives, injured 15 others, and destroyed multiple buildings, vehicles, and shops.
The incident occurred around 8:10 PM on March 11 when a tanker belonging to 2nd Coming Nigeria Plc overturned while attempting to ascend the link road to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The overturned tanker spilled its contents, triggering a massive fire.
Emergency responders, including the police, firefighters, and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, engulfing four buildings, 15 vehicles—including tricycles—and several shops and household properties.
Rescue teams recovered two bodies, while 15 injured victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
