Armed criminals posing as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have kidnapped 10 guests from White Hill Hotel on Shiroro Road in Chanchaga Local Government Area, Niger State.

The attack, which occurred at approximately 4:58 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2025, was confirmed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, citing intelligence sources.

Reports indicate that the assailants disabled the hotel’s CCTV system before storming individual rooms and forcibly abducting the victims.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Intelligence Department (Acpol SID), has confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators and locate the abducted individuals. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, concerns persist over the growing insecurity in northern Nigeria, with banditry evolving into an organized crime involving mass kidnappings, village raids, and extortion. Security experts note that farming communities continue to pay levies and ransoms to bandit groups, with demands ranging from ₦20 million to ₦200 million.

Despite ongoing military operations, retired generals have admitted that the armed forces struggle to prevent residents from yielding to these financial demands due to fear of attacks.

Authorities are intensifying efforts to tackle insecurity in the region, as the latest abduction highlights the increasing boldness of criminal groups operating under false identities.
