A mistaken lottery ticket purchase leads to a life-changing jackpot for a Carrollton resident.

Dubai: What started as a simple mistake turned into an unexpected fortune for Kelly Lindsay, a Virginia resident who won $2 million from a lottery ticket she hadn’t intended to buy.

According to Fox Business, Kelly, from Carrollton, had asked for a specific scratch-off ticket at a local store, but the cashier mistakenly handed her a Money Blitz scratch-off instead. Initially frustrated by the mix-up, she scratched the ticket in her car—only to discover she had hit the top prize.

Her disappointment quickly turned to shock and excitement. Reflecting on the unexpected twist, she later joked, “And I got over not being happy about it.”

Opting for a lump sum payment over annuity installments, Kelly took home $1.25 million after taxes. The Metro reports that the odds of winning the $2 million Money Blitz jackpot were 1 in 1,142,400. Notably, one more top prize in the game remains unclaimed.

Beaming with excitement, Kelly was later seen holding an oversized check alongside her winning ticket. Her story is a testament to how luck can strike in the most surprising ways.
