Moniepoint Reveals How FG Selects Nigerians for ₦50,000 Monthly Cash Support

0 23

Moniepoint has explained how the Federal Government identifies Nigerians selected to receive its ₦50,000 monthly cash support under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).

The clarification comes amid growing interest in the government’s relief programme, with payment notifications reportedly reaching some beneficiaries across the country.

According to Moniepoint, the Federal Government obtains beneficiaries’ phone numbers through existing national databases rather than requiring Nigerians to submit fresh applications.

The programme’s guidelines state that beneficiaries are selected using verified national identity records and the National Social Register, which contains information on poor and vulnerable households.

Phone numbers linked to the records are subsequently used to send SMS notifications to individuals selected for the intervention.

No Application Required for ₦50,000 Support

The government has clarified that Nigerians do not need to apply or register separately to benefit from the monthly cash support.

It also warned that agents and third parties have no authority to add individuals to the beneficiary list.

Payments are being made in batches across the country’s six geopolitical zones. Consequently, Nigerians who have not received notifications may still be considered in subsequent disbursement rounds.

Approved payment providers, including ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo PSB and NairaGram, are responsible for sending notifications and facilitating payments.

How Selected Nigerians Can Receive the Money

Beneficiaries who receive an official SMS notification are required to follow the instructions provided.

Recipients are expected to use the designated USSD code on the phone number that received the message to accept the payment.

Following the completion of the process, a mobile wallet is created, and the ₦50,000 support is credited to the beneficiary.

The process is designed to work on basic mobile phones without requiring internet access or a smartphone.

The government has also warned Nigerians against fraudsters who may demand money in exchange for assistance with beneficiary selection.

The programme is intended to provide financial relief to vulnerable households amid rising living costs, with the government maintaining that selection is based on existing records and eligibility screening.
