Nigerian Govt. Increases Passport Fee by 42%
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an upward review of the fees for Nigerian passports, effective September 1, 2024.
The move according a statement signed by the Spokesman of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Deputy Controller of Immigration, KT Udo, aims to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian standard passport.
According to the review, the 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity will now cost ₦50,000, up from the previous ₦35,000. The 64-page passport booklet with a 10-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, previously ₦70,000.
However, the fees remain unchanged for Nigerians in the diaspora. The Nigerian Immigration Service has apologized for any inconvenience the increase may cause prospective applicants, assuring them of its commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
