A Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Toyin Ndidi Taiwo-Ojo, has rescued a 23-year-old woman allegedly subjected to repeated physical abuse by her boyfriend.
Taiwo-Ojo disclosed the rescue in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, revealing that the victim, who recently gave birth, endured relentless beatings from her child’s father, even three weeks postpartum.
According to the activist, the woman faced severe restrictions, including being denied access to a phone, locked indoors for extended periods, and accused of infidelity despite being in the company of her partner’s mother. He allegedly subjected her to cycles of violence, followed by pleas for forgiveness.
The survivor’s mother reportedly dismissed her daughter’s plight, influenced by financial support from the alleged abuser. However, the man’s own mother confirmed the abuse, stating that her son was obsessed and prone to baseless accusations. She appealed for help to protect the victim.
Taiwo-Ojo confirmed that the woman is now in a safe environment, free from fear of further harm.
