Nigerians Prefer Hardship Abroad Over Comfort in Nigeria – Lolo 1
Nollywood actress Omotunde Adebowale David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has expressed concern over the willingness of Nigerians to endure hardship abroad rather than return home.
Speaking in a recent interview on News Central, Lolo 1 highlighted how many Nigerians struggle in foreign countries but choose to remain due to the availability of basic amenities often lacking in Nigeria.
She lamented that despite the high cost of living abroad, Nigerians appreciate stable electricity, good roads, and functional transportation systems—facilities that are inconsistent or inadequate back home.
“I feel bad for Nigerians because the facts are glaring. We are making the lives of foreign countries easier while struggling in our own,” she stated.
Lolo 1 pointed out the irony of Nigerians enduring degrading conditions overseas simply because of better infrastructure.
“People would rather suffer abroad and pay high school fees than stay here with relative ease. Some are living in terrible conditions but choose to remain because, at least, there is constant electricity, good roads, and transportation options,” she added.
The actress criticized the perception that using public transport in Nigeria is a sign of poverty, stating that many would prefer not to drive daily if efficient alternatives existed.
Her remarks have sparked discussions on the quality of life in Nigeria and the need for urgent improvements in infrastructure and governance.
