NYSC seeks stronger security support in Sokoto

Mr Tyoyer Gabriel-Ter, the new Sokoto State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has called for the continuous support of the Nigerian Army and the NYSC Governing Board in the state.Tyoyer made the appeal when he visited the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto, Maj.-Gen. Bemgba Koughna, on Thursday in Sokoto.

He emphasised that collaboration with security agencies was critical to the success of the scheme, particularly in ensuring the safety and welfare of corps members across the state.

He appreciated the Army’s continued support in providing security during orientation exercises and throughout the service year.

Responding, Koughna congratulated the new coordinator on his appointment and assured him of the Army’s full support and cooperation to ensure a successful tenure.

Meanwhile, Gabriel-Ter also appreciated the support of the state NYSC Governing Board, chaired by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Hajiya Hadiza Galadima.

The coordinator said that his predecessor had briefed him on the strong collaboration with the governing board and expressed hope that it would be maintained and further improved.

Galadima commended the existing cordial relationship between the state government and the NYSC and expressed optimism that the partnership would be further strengthened during his tenure.
