Okey Bakassi Raises Alarm After Suspect Steals Phones at Ikoyi Football Field

Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has raised concerns after an unknown man allegedly stole multiple phones during a football game in Ikoyi.

According to Bakassi, he and a group of men regularly gather every Wednesday to play football at a local field. During their game on April 15, an unfamiliar young man approached the group and asked to join in. Seeing no immediate cause for concern, they allowed him to participate.

However, the situation took a turn shortly after. The suspect reportedly pretended to sustain an injury and excused himself to sit on a nearby bench where players had left their belongings.

While the game continued, the man allegedly took advantage of the moment to steal eight mobile phones before leaving the premises unnoticed.

Bakassi said the incident has been reported to authorities, and efforts are underway to identify the suspect. A reward of ₦5 million has also been announced for information that could lead to his arrest.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about security and vigilance, even in seemingly controlled and familiar environments.
