Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has pledged compensation for the families of 16 hunters allegedly killed by a vigilante group in Uromi, Edo State, while en route to Kano.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the victims’ families in Torankawa, Kano State, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Okpebholo assured the bereaved families that justice would be served.

“We are making arrangements to provide compensation to all the victims affected by this incident,” he stated.

He commended the people of Kano for maintaining peace despite the tragedy and urged continued restraint.

“I also commend the good people of Kano State and the entire North for not taking the law into their own hands,” he added.

The Edo governor revealed that 14 suspects had already been arrested in connection with the killings and vowed to see the case through to its conclusion.

Governor Yusuf also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice and full compensation for the victims’ families.

“We are working closely with my counterpart, Governor Okpebholo, to ensure that all those arrested are prosecuted,” Yusuf said.

He further announced immediate relief, including cash and food supplies, for the affected families.

Both governors prayed for the repose of the victims’ souls and assured the families that their administrations would not relent in the pursuit of justice.
