The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested three men over alleged car theft and vandalism of an armoured cable belonging to a company in the state.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement by the command, which said two of the suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol along the Eastern Bypass in Kano, while the third was arrested in a separate operation.

The two suspected car thieves, identified as 61-year-old Abdullahi Sani and 63-year-old Abdullahi Suleiman, were arrested at Ladanai Junction while allegedly driving a red Toyota Carina II Wagon with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nasarawa).

According to the NSCDC, the vehicle had been reported stolen three days before the suspects were intercepted at about 2 a.m. while driving out of the Ladanai area.

The command identified Sani as a resident of Kurna Tudun Bojuwa, while Suleiman hails from Kantudu in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

In a separate incident, NSCDC operatives arrested a 45-year-old man, Suleiman Shehu, for allegedly vandalising an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited in Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area of the state.

Shehu, who is an employee of the company, was reportedly arrested following the alleged vandalism.

The command said the three suspects were in its custody and undergoing preliminary investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents and their possible involvement in the alleged offences.

It added that the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of investigations.

The NSCDC Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama II, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and prompt response, noting that routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations remained essential in preventing criminal activities.

“I commend the vigilance and professionalism of our operatives for their timely intervention. This arrest once again demonstrates the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations in preventing and combating criminal activities across the state,” he said.

Agalama assured residents that the command would strengthen its collaboration with other security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious activities to security agencies to enhance the fight against crime in the state.
