Olympics: Opeyori Eliminated from Men’s Badminton Event
Nigeria’s Anuoluwapo Opeyori has exited the men’s Olympic Badminton event after a 0-2 loss to world number six, Li Shifeng of China.
The reports gathered that Opeyori challenged his opponent throughout the match, but ultimately lost 17-21, 17-21. This was Opeyori’s second defeat in Group N of the men’s singles event, ending his chances of advancing to the knockout phase.
The Nigerian’s elimination followed a previous loss to Tobias Kuenzi of Switzerland at Le Chapelle Arena. Despite the setback, badminton enthusiasts anticipate that the two-time Olympian and Team Nigeria’s General Captain will learn from the experience and come back stronger in future competitions.
