Wike Says Amaechi, ADC Cannot Win Rivers Election, Claims Results Will Be Predetermined
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and its vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, stand little chance of winning elections in Rivers State, alleging that electoral results in the state would be predetermined.
Wike made the remarks on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during a gathering organised by Uzugbani Ekpeye in Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
The minister, who is also the leader of the Rainbow Coalition, dismissed Amaechi’s political prospects, challenging him to present evidence of electoral victories since their political alliance ended.
Recalling his role in Amaechi’s successful 2011 governorship campaign, Wike said he served as the Director-General of the campaign but claimed that the former Rivers State governor had failed to win any significant election independently since then.
“I was the DG of the campaign in 2011. Now, since I left him in 2011, after 2011, mention one election that he has ever won,” Wike said.
He further asserted that Amaechi and the ADC would be unable to secure victory in Rivers State in future elections, claiming that the outcomes would continue to be determined in advance.
“So, from 2011, when he became the second time governor, down to now, the result has been written, then let him forget it. The result will always be written; he will not win again,” he added.
Wike urged voters to evaluate political candidates based on their records and achievements rather than campaign promises and political rhetoric.
His remarks come amid growing political tensions ahead of the next general elections, with Rivers State expected to remain a major battleground for competing political interests.
