Police Foil Attempted Abduction of 6-Year-Old Girl, Arrest 18-Year-Old Suspect in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an alleged attempt to abduct a six-year-old girl in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state and arrested an 18-year-old suspect.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
According to the statement, police operatives attached to the Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters received credible information that the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Sa’adu of Anguwan Eti Salat, Mayo Belwa, had allegedly attempted to forcefully abduct the girl, Nora Luka, from Anguwan Tsakuwa.
Acting swiftly on the information, a police patrol team intercepted Sa’adu and took him into custody.
The six-year-old victim was rescued unharmed and handed over to her parents for safety.
The statement said, “The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled an attempted abduction of a 6-year-old girl following the prompt intervention of Police operatives attached to Mayo Belwa Divisional Headquarters.”
The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, commended the police patrol team and members of the community for their swift response and professionalism.
He also reassured residents that the command remains committed to protecting children and other vulnerable members of society.
Police said an investigation into the incident is ongoing and that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
