The Nasarawa State Police Command has identified the victim of a gruesome murder allegedly carried out by gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi. The victim, 24-year-old Eliojo Salomey, was a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) stationed in Mararaba, a rapidly growing community near Abuja.

Police spokesperson Nansel Ramhan disclosed that the incident occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at approximately 8:30 pm. Ajayi was apprehended in the Angwan Bako area near Kaja Estate in New Karu Local Government Area while attempting to transport Salomey’s severed head in a bag via a commercial motorcycle. The motorcyclist noticed blood dripping from the suspect’s luggage and raised an alarm, attracting a mob.

The mob severely beat Ajayi before police officers intervened, rescuing him and taking him to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. A subsequent search of his residence revealed the dismembered remains of the victim.

According to sources, Ajayi admitted to killing Salomey, who was his girlfriend, though he did not provide a motive. Police are investigating the possibility of ritualistic intentions, as similar cases have been reported in Nigeria.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the act and calling for swift justice. The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State has directed a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrator is brought to book.

Authorities are urging the public to refrain from mob actions and report suspicious activities.
