Ronaldo Scores 901st Career Goal as Portugal Beats Scotland in Nations League Clash

Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench to score a dramatic late winner, giving Portugal a 2-1 comeback victory over Scotland in Sunday’s Nations League match. The victory continues Portugal’s strong start in the competition.

Scotland shocked the hosts early on with a seventh-minute header from Scott McTominay, giving them hope of securing their first win against Portugal since 1980. However, Bruno Fernandes brought Portugal level with a powerful strike before Ronaldo secured the win with an 88th-minute goal, marking the 901st of his illustrious career.

Ronaldo’s decisive impact at 39 years old drew praise from Fernandes, who played his 600th career game. “Cristiano’s influence is always there, whether he starts or comes off the bench. He’s chasing 1,000 goals now, and today was another step toward that goal,” Fernandes said of his former Manchester United teammate.

Portugal now tops League A Group 1 with six points, following an earlier win over Croatia, who sit second after defeating Poland 1-0. Scotland, on the other hand, has suffered two consecutive losses due to late goals.
