Security Forces Repel Kidnappers in Abuja Gun Battle
A team of security personnel, including army, police, and vigilantes, responded promptly to a distress call from residents of Hajiya Zahra Extension in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) today, dislodging gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.
The gunmen engaged the security team in a ceaseless gun battle from about midnight to around 2 a.m. The assailants managed to kidnap a woman, a man, and a boy of about 15 years old.
One resident was injured in the crossfire but is now receiving treatment at Kuje General Hospital.
Hajiya Zahra Extension is a sprawling community directly opposite Government Secondary School in Kuje.
No official statement has been released by the security team, but a police officer confirmed the incident and stated that the team is pursuing the criminals.
Residents praised the prompt response of the police, army, and vigilantes, expressing relief at the swift action that likely prevented further harm.
