Security Guard Charged with Molesting 10-Year-Old Girl in Lagos
A 37-year-old security guard, Effiong Okon, was arraigned on Monday at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl. The police have charged Okon, who resides in Omole Phase I, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, with sexual assault.
According to the Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, the alleged offence took place on July 18 at 153 Lola Holloway Street, Omole, Ojodu Berger. The charge against Okon is based on Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which addresses sexual offences.
Okon pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, granted Okon bail set at N200,000, with the requirement of two sureties in like sum. The case has been adjourned until Sept. 29 for further mention.
