Shock, Grief in Nollywood as Veteran Actor Solomon Akiyesi Dies Suddenly

Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood, is in mourning following the sudden death of veteran actor and producer Solomon Akiyesi, who reportedly passed away in his sleep.

The development was confirmed on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. According to him, Akiyesi died on Sunday after retiring for the night and failing to wake up.

Yakubu disclosed that the late actor’s body has been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, adding that the guild is awaiting further clarification from the family regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.

“His death has been confirmed. He went to bed and did not wake up. We are currently expecting more details from his family. His remains are in a morgue in Abuja,” Yakubu said.

Akiyesi was known for his remarkable contributions to Nollywood, earning recognition as a versatile actor, director, and entrepreneur. His work over the years left a lasting impression on both colleagues and audiences.

Tributes have begun pouring in from across the entertainment industry, with many describing him as passionate, dedicated, and influential in shaping the growth of Nollywood.

The family is yet to announce funeral arrangements.
