Simon Moses Injured Again Before AFCON 2025 Qualifiers
Super Eagles and Nantes FC forward Simon Moses has suffered his second injury of 2024, reports Soccernet.ng.
In the latter part of the 2023-24 season, the French Ligue 1 club announced that the 28-year-old had fractured his fibula, sidelining him for three months and ending his season.
Moses made a swift recovery and was pivotal in Nantes’ pre-season friendly win against Laval. However, new reports indicate another injury setback.
Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré expressed concern over Moses’ condition ahead of the new season. “Simon (Moses) with his ankle still giving me problems and little Adel (Mahamoud) who hurt his knee. I hope it’s not too serious,” Kombouaré said, as quoted by Nantes Tribune.
Moses previously missed Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, with the Super Eagles drawing against South Africa and losing to Benin.
His absence was keenly felt, and the Super Eagles now risk being without him again for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic.
