Six Killed in Chilean Air Ambulance Crash Near Curacavi
Six people lost their lives after an air ambulance crashed in a mountainous area near the town of Curacavi in Chile’s Metropolitan Region, local authorities confirmed on Thursday.
Gonzalo Duran, the presidential delegate for the region, said the victims included the aircraft’s pilot, co-pilot, a doctor, a nurse, a patient, and the patient’s companion.
President Gabriel Boric expressed his condolences in a message on X, saying, “I extend my deepest sympathies and love to the families of the six people who lost their lives in the tragic air ambulance crash in the Curacavi region.”
He also thanked emergency services for their swift response, adding, “In these difficult times, I share the grief of the victims’ families and once again emphasize the importance of solidarity.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash.
