Sola Sobowale, Kanayo O. Kanayo Honoured With AMVCA 2026 Industry Merit Awards

Veteran Nollywood actors Sola Sobowale and Kanayo O. Kanayo have received the prestigious Industry Merit Award at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

The honour recognises their outstanding contributions to the Nigerian film industry and their enduring influence as two of Nollywood’s most celebrated screen legends.

Sobowale was applauded for her commanding performances and enduring popularity in several blockbuster productions, while Kanayo was recognised for his versatility and long-standing impact on the growth of Nollywood.

During his acceptance speech, Kanayo also addressed the issue of xenophobic attacks in South Africa, calling for unity and mutual respect among Africans.
