Sports Minister to Launch National Youth Games in Asaba
The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, is set to officially open the National Youth Games (NYG) on Thursday at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
In a statement on Thursday, the minister’s Special Adviser on Media, Diana-Mary Nsan, emphasized the NYG’s commitment to fairness and integrity. Enoh stressed that the Games are exclusively for athletes aged 15 and under, and any form of age falsification will not be tolerated.
“The NYG is dedicated to showcasing young athletes’ talents in a transparent and fair environment,” Enoh said. “We have instructed the technical team to ensure compliance with the age criteria to maintain the Games’ integrity.”
Delta State, known for its vibrant sporting culture, will host this year’s event, which has become a crucial fixture in Nigeria’s sports calendar. The NYG serves as a platform for young athletes to compete nationally and is integral to the country’s talent identification and development strategy.
The opening ceremony, anticipated to be a major event, will feature various dignitaries and sports stakeholders.
