Teen Arrested, Three Killed in Stabbing at German Festival
A stabbing attack at a festival in Solingen, Germany, has left three people dead and eight others wounded, five of whom are in serious condition. The attack occurred on Friday night during the city’s 650th anniversary celebration, with police launching a manhunt for a lone male suspect believed to be responsible.
The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. as a music performance was underway at the “Festival of Diversity.” Law enforcement officials from Dusseldorf confirmed that they have limited information on the suspect, who remains at large. While the motive is unclear, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of terrorism.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the attack, but police clarified that he is not considered the prime suspect. Investigations are ongoing as law enforcement continues to search for the attacker.
Solingen Mayor Tim Kurzbach expressed the community’s grief, stating, “We are all in shock, horror, and great sadness. We wanted to celebrate our city’s anniversary together, and now we mourn the dead and injured.”
The festival, which was set to run for three days, has been overshadowed by the tragedy.
