Troops Arrest Suspected Drug Trafficker, Seize 235kg of Cannabis in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered about 235 kilogrammes of suspected cannabis during a snap checkpoint operation in Kogi State.

Security sources said that the suspect was apprehended at about 7:50 p.m. on June 22 by troops of the 176 Guards Battalion deployed at the Quick Response Group (QRG), Abaji.

The sources said the troops intercepted a vehicle along the Lokoja–Abuja Road around Chikara North in Koton Karfe Local Government Area and discovered 273 compressed packets of suspected cannabis weighing approximately 235kg.

The suspect was subsequently profiled and handed over, along with the recovered exhibits, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
