Two Arraigned in Ogun for Alleged Assault Over Engine Oil Theft Accusation

Two young men, Eze Daniel, 23, and Eze Goodluck, 18, were on Wednesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State over allegations of assault and breach of public peace.

The defendants, whose addresses were not disclosed, are facing a three-count charge bordering on breach of peace, conspiracy, and assault.

According to the Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. on February 5, at No. 64 Tarmac Road, Ota.

Adaraloye told the court that the duo, alongside others still at large, conspired to assault one Adekunle Idowu, accusing him of stealing engine oil.

“They accused Idowu of stealing engine oil, they also assaulted him by giving him fist blow,” the prosecutor said.

He added that the offences contravened Sections 249(D), 355, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety in like sum. She then adjourned the case until April 21 for further hearing.
