Two Children Killed, Seven Injured in Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway Crash

Two children lost their lives, and seven others were injured in a lone accident involving a Toyota Camry on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway at Kere, Itori.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Ogun State, Mrs. Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. The crash occurred late Saturday night, around 11:00 p.m.

Okpe explained that the accident was caused by speeding, and the vehicle, with registration number AGL 36 JA, was carrying an excessive number of passengers.

“A total of nine people were involved in the crash, including seven men, one male child, and one female child,” she said. “Unfortunately, the two children—a boy and a girl—were killed in the accident, while the other passengers sustained various injuries.”

The injured victims were promptly taken to the General Hospital in Ifo for medical treatment, and the bodies of the deceased children have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.

Mrs. Okpe urged motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
