Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has emerged winner of the Best Lead Actor category at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for his performance in the fantasy drama Colours of Fire.

Arukwe earned the prestigious award for his portrayal of “Akinbode,” a warrior sent on a mission to eliminate a supposed monster from a rival tribe in the Niyi Akinmolayan-directed film.

His performance received widespread praise for its emotional depth and intensity, as the character evolves from a battle-hardened soldier consumed by tribal hatred to a man confronted with the truth behind a long-standing conflict through an unexpected love story.

The award marks a major milestone in Arukwe’s acting career, with critics applauding his ability to balance physically demanding action scenes with emotional vulnerability throughout the film.

His on-screen chemistry with co-star Osas Ighodaro also became one of the standout elements of the movie, helping Colours of Fire gain widespread attention during the awards season.

This year’s AMVCA acting categories were among the most competitive, with Arukwe’s victory emerging as one of the major highlights of the night as the ceremony drew to a close.
