Why Nancy Isime Say Acting Is Her Life, Not Just About Money?
Nollywood actress has opened up about her deep commitment to acting, describing it as her life’s passion rather than a hobby or a means of making money.
In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Isime reflected on her performance as Kemi Sanya in the second season of Blood Sisters, revealing the emotional and physical sacrifices she made to fully embody the character.
Expressing gratitude for the positive reception to the series, the actress noted that Blood Sisters 2 climbed to the top of the streaming charts within 24 hours of its release.
According to Isime, preparing for the role required her to completely detach from her own identity and immerse herself in the character.
“I had to evacuate Nancy Isime for Kemi Sanya to take over completely. The result is what you’re currently watching,” she wrote.
The actress disclosed that she isolated herself for about a week before filming and continued to keep to herself for much of the production period to maintain the intensity of the character.
She described the process as a major risk for actors, noting that some performers struggle to return to themselves after becoming deeply invested in a role.
“After wrapping Kemi, I physically couldn’t take on any other projects for about two months because I truly had nothing left to give. I was empty,” she said.
Reaffirming her dedication to her craft, Isime stressed that acting is far more than a profession to her.
“Acting isn’t a hobby to me. It’s not a money-making scheme to me. It is my life. I’m just blessed to earn a good living from it,” she stated.
The actress also praised her supporters, saying her fans deserve excellence and inspiration whenever they watch her perform.
She added that downplaying her talent out of fear of criticism would be a disservice to both her Creator and the people who entrusted her with the role.
Isime further acknowledged the contributions of the entire production team, including Netflix, EbonyLife Studios, writers, directors, producers, costume designers, makeup artists, sound engineers, editors and her co-stars.
Describing Blood Sisters 2 as “a performer’s dream,” she expressed appreciation for the opportunity and the overwhelming support she has received from viewers.
The actress also reflected on her journey in the film industry, highlighting hard work, resilience and self-reliance as key factors behind her success.
According to her, her determination to succeed and provide for herself ensures that she is never dependent on anyone for her personal growth or financial stability.
