Yahaya Bello Denies Sponsoring #EndBadGovernance Protests, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu

The Media Office of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, has denied allegations that he is sponsoring the ongoing nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.

Describing the accusations as “reckless and malicious,” Bello’s media team emphasized his dedication to building a united and prosperous Nigeria.

In a statement signed by Michael Ohiare and issued on Wednesday in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, Bello’s media team stated that the allegations are a tactic by his enemies to tarnish his image and portray him as an adversary to the Bola Tinubu administration.

“We have uncovered a high-wired plan by some disgruntled enemies of the nation and persons on the ‘Project Bring Down Yahaya Bello’, to frame him up as one of the sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance protests across the country,” the statement read.

The statement continued: “It is necessary to address these falsehoods because they concern national security. Yahaya Bello has been a mediator for national unity, notably resolving the food transport crisis between the northern and southern regions.”

The statement also highlighted Bello’s role in countering the naira redesign policy before the 2023 presidential election, a move that earned him commendation for stabilizing the nation’s economy.

“Can the masterminds of his persecution show the world the results of their state?” the statement queried. “Yahaya Bello mobilized the youth of the nation as the APC Youth Mobilisation Committee Chairman, showing his faith in the leadership capacity of Mr. President.”

Meanwhile, Bello’s whereabouts remain unknown since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared him wanted over an alleged N80.2bn fraud.
