Lagos Police Confirm Electrocution of Teen at Construction Site

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 17-year-old boy who was electrocuted while working alongside his stepfather at a construction site.

The incident occurred on August 2 in the Alagbado area of Lagos, according to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin.

The boy’s mother reported the tragedy to the Agbado Police Division at 1:00 p.m. that day after being informed by her younger brother. Her son had accompanied his stepfather, a welder, to help build scaffolding at a construction site on Church Street.

According to Hundeyin, the teenager stepped on a live wire that was carelessly connected from an electric pole and died instantly. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

Police detectives visited the scene, and while no signs of physical violence were found on the body, the stepfather has been taken in for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
