Three Female Staff Arraigned for Allegedly Stealing Employer’s Slippers, Valuables Worth N800,000

Three young women — Opeyemi Salami, Anjorin Mutiyat, and Ifeoluwa Sanyaolu — have been arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly stealing 10 pairs of Puma slippers and other valuables worth N800,000 belonging to their employer.

The defendants, aged 23, 22, and 19 respectively, were brought before Magistrate O.O. Fadairo on Monday, facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy. Their residential addresses were not disclosed.

The Prosecutor, Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the offence was committed on December 6, 2024, at about 7:00 p.m. at No. 7 Mupin Road, Iyesi area, Ota.

Adaraloye said, “The defendants and others still at large, conspired to steal 10 pairs of Puma slippers, 15 pairs of imported Nike slippers, and other valuable items worth N800,000 belonging to their employer, Adebayo Oluwatosin.”

He added that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Fadairo granted each of them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum. She ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, be gainfully employed, and present evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the case was adjourned to April 28 for further hearing.
