Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Jolts Quezon, Shakes Metro Manila

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines on Tuesday, sending tremors through Quezon province and Metro Manila.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake hit at 12:17 p.m. local time (0417GMT), with its epicenter in General Nakar, Quezon. The tremor occurred at a shallow depth of six kilometers.

Although the quake was strongly felt in several areas, including the capital, there were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage, according to local media outlet Phil Star.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation for aftershocks.
