As part of events marking his first 100 days in office, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday, distributed 50 Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to various security agencies in the state.
The event, held in Akure, witnessed the presence of all heads of security agencies operating in the state, who gathered to receive what the governor described as a token of appreciation for their unwavering service.
“The vehicles are a token of my appreciation for the dedication and service of the security outfits in the state; it is one of the ways of strengthening security apparatus in the state,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He stressed that the safety of lives and property of residents remained a sacred trust and a core responsibility of his administration.
“We see this as a major constitutional responsibility of every government,” he added.
The governor recalled that in July 2024, his administration had similarly distributed 25 branded Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies, saying the latest gesture underscored his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens.
“This milestone marks a giant step forward in our administration’s commitment to security and underscores our resolve to support our security agencies,” Aiyedatiwa said.
He urged the security agencies to put the vehicles to proper use for patrols, emergency responses, and other crucial security operations across the state.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, said the administration had shown seriousness in handling security matters.
“The government is firmly committed to promoting orderliness and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” he said.
Fasoranti added that the distribution of operational vehicles further demonstrated the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its social contract with the people of Ondo State.
In a goodwill message, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brig.-Gen. Justin Ifeanyi, who spoke on behalf of all security agencies in the state, commended the governor for the support and assured that the vehicles would be effectively deployed and well maintained.
On his part, Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps), Chief Adetunji Adeleye, thanked the state government, noting that, “the vehicle will ease the mobility challenges faced by security personnel.”
