Arsenal Defender Gabriel Signs New Contract Until 2029
Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhães has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract that will keep him at the Emirates Stadium until 2029.
The 27-year-old Brazilian, who was previously under contract until 2027, has been rewarded with fresh terms reflecting his vital role in manager Mikel Arteta’s plans. Since his £27 million arrival from Lille in 2020, Gabriel has made 210 appearances for the Gunners and scored 20 goals.
Reacting to the new deal, Gabriel said:
“I arrived here as a young player and after almost five years, I’m so happy and proud of the journey so far. I’ve learned a lot, and now I just want to help the team win trophies. I love this club, my family loves this club, and I’m excited to keep going.”
He added,
“Arsenal is an amazing club. I love the fans, my teammates, and this stadium. We’ve made great progress, and now it’s time to turn that into silverware.”
Gabriel missed the closing months of the 2024–25 season due to a hamstring injury—a setback that coincided with Arsenal’s drop from the Premier League title race and their Champions League semi-final exit to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are actively pursuing reinforcements, with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi among their top targets. The club is also looking to bolster its attack with a new striker ahead of the new season.
