Woman Arrested for Acid Attack on Ex-Boyfriend After Breakup Dispute

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Mavis Nkrumah for allegedly attacking her ex-boyfriend, Gideon Frimpong, with acid during a heated altercation over their breakup.

According to police sources, the incident took place after the former couple met in an attempt to resolve lingering issues related to their separation. However, the discussion reportedly turned confrontational, culminating in Ms. Nkrumah dousing Mr. Frimpong—a 29-year-old taxi driver—with a corrosive substance.

Mr. Frimpong sustained serious burns and was immediately rushed to a medical facility. Doctors say he is currently in stable condition but will require continued treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Following the incident, Ms. Nkrumah allegedly tried to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the police. She is currently in custody while investigations into the case are ongoing.
