A 38-year-old man in Nanjing has been arrested for allegedly disguising himself as a woman to lure over 1,600 men into sexual encounters, which he secretly recorded and shared online for profit.

The man, known by his online alias “Uncle Red” and referred to by Thai users as “Sister Hong,” was apprehended on July 5 for distributing pornographic materials, according to the South China Morning Post. Authorities say he used wigs, makeup, and women’s clothing to convincingly assume a female identity.

He reportedly invited men to his home, where he had installed hidden cameras to record the encounters without their consent. In some cases, he used voice-altering techniques to sound like a woman.

Police said the suspect uploaded the videos to private online groups, charging a subscription fee of 150 yuan (around 680 Thai baht) for access. He claimed to have recorded encounters with more than 1,600 individuals, although investigators believe the actual number may be lower.

The scheme came to light after some victims discovered footage of themselves online and alerted authorities. While the suspect didn’t ask for money directly from the men involved, he allegedly requested small items such as milk, fruit, or cooking oil as tokens of appreciation.

The case has triggered outrage on Chinese social media, especially after reports that some victims were identified by friends, relatives, or partners. Despite warnings from police, the explicit content continues to circulate online.

In response to public concern, the Nanjing Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has offered health screenings to those affected. Officials declined to say whether the suspect tested positive for any sexually transmitted infections, citing privacy laws.

Under Chinese law, the production and distribution of pornographic content carries a maximum prison sentence of two years. The suspect could also face further charges for violating privacy and image rights.
