The Comptroller-General (C-G) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, has described the late former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, as an astute leader who left a legacy of discipline.

Adeniyi said this in a condolence message issued by the NCS spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, on Monday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the former president died in London on Sunday at about 4:30 p.m.

“His legacy as a disciplined leader and patriot who contributed immensely to national development, including key reforms in the NCS, will be remembered,” he said.

He prayed for Buhari’s peaceful repose and for strength for his family and the nation to bear the great loss.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has ordered national flags be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect for the departed leader.

Former President Buhari was twice elected Nigeria’s President, in 2015 and 2019.

He also served as Nigeria’s military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
