Türkiye’s Ministry of Defense has strongly condemned recent Israeli airstrikes on central Damascus, labeling them a dangerous provocation that threatens peace efforts across the Middle East.

In a press briefing on Thursday, ministry spokesperson Navy Colonel Zeki Akturk warned that Israel’s continued attacks—following earlier strikes in southern Syria—are escalating tensions and dragging the region into chaos.

“These aggressive maneuvers are destabilizing the region and must be halted immediately,” Akturk said, emphasizing that such actions could have lasting and irreparable consequences.

The Ministry further warned of the broader security implications for the Middle East, urging all parties to prioritize dialogue over escalation.

Separately, Turkish security sources confirmed that Ankara played a key role in brokering a ceasefire in Syria’s southern Suwayda province. The sources said Türkiye remains committed to regional stability and supports the sovereignty of the Syrian government.
