A Pakistani television reporter from GTV was swept away by raging floodwaters during a live broadcast while covering the devastating monsoon floods in Kot Chatta, sparking concern and conversation across social media.

In the dramatic video shared by Al Arabiya English on Facebook, the journalist is seen waist-deep in floodwater, gripping a microphone as he reports on the worsening conditions. As the current intensifies, the water rises to his neck. Moments later, he loses balance and is dragged away by the powerful current—only his head and microphone remain visible before he vanishes from view.

The video quickly went viral, with many praising the journalist’s dedication while others criticized the lack of safety precautions. Viewers expressed a mix of shock and outrage, asking why he was placed in such a dangerous situation.

Fortunately, authorities later confirmed that the reporter survived the incident and is safe. However, the footage has reignited debates around media safety, especially in regions frequently hit by extreme weather events.

Pakistan has been grappling with severe monsoon rains since June 26, resulting in widespread flooding that has claimed at least 116 lives, injured over 250 people, and displaced thousands. Homes, roads, and farmlands have been heavily damaged.

As climate change continues to intensify weather patterns across South Asia, the incident underscores the growing risks journalists face while covering natural disasters.
