Pakistan and India have strongly condemned Israel following a deadly airstrike in southern Gaza that killed six journalists, among dozens of civilians, bringing the death toll of media workers in the enclave to 246 since October 2023.

The statements from both countries came after Monday’s Israeli attack on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, which left at least 47 Palestinians dead, including the six journalists. The bombing has drawn global outrage and intensified calls for accountability.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry described the strike as “unconscionable and heinous,” calling it a grave violation of international law and press freedom.

“Pakistan reiterates its call on the international community to hold Israel accountable for such heinous crimes and to take concrete steps toward ending Israel’s impunity,” the ministry said in a statement.

India also denounced the killings, calling them “shocking and deeply regrettable.”

“India has always condemned the loss of civilian lives in conflict,” said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, adding that Israeli authorities have “instituted an investigation.”

The death toll among Palestinian journalists in Gaza is now among the highest ever recorded in a single conflict, according to press freedom groups.

In a separate statement, Islamabad also condemned Israeli military operations in Syria, calling the recent incursions a “flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter.”

“Pakistan denounces in the strongest possible terms the Israeli occupying forces’ incursion into the Syrian Arab Republic,” the statement said, reaffirming support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza has killed nearly 63,000 Palestinians since October 2023 and left the enclave devastated, with famine conditions worsening by the day.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Separately, Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
