2 killed, 41 injured in multi-vehicle crash on Cairo-Suez highway

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has confirmed that two people were killed and 41 others injured in a major multi-vehicle collision on the Cairo-Suez highway on Saturday evening.

In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry said 28 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene to provide emergency assistance. The injured were later transported to several nearby hospitals for treatment.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the accident occurred when a speeding heavy truck collided with multiple cars, causing extensive damage and multiple casualties.

Authorities said the truck driver has been arrested and referred for further investigation.
