Palm Oil Partnership: Nigeria, Indonesia Ink Production Deal

Nigeria and Indonesia have formalized a partnership to bolster palm oil production and expand market opportunities through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Signed by the National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria (NPPAN) and the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) in Abuja, the agreement seeks to modernize farming techniques and enhance smallholder farmers’ earnings.

NPPAN President, Amb. Alphonsus Inyang, emphasized that the collaboration would offer Nigerian farmers access to advanced palm oil technology and financial benefits, fostering growth within the sector.

GAPKI Chairman, Mr. Eddy Martono, reiterated Indonesia’s dedication to expanding its market beyond traditional regions, positioning Nigeria as a key partner. Indonesian Embassy Director, Sahabi Muazu, expressed optimism that the MoU would significantly contribute to Nigeria’s palm oil industry development.

Additionally, GAPKI’s Deputy Secretary-General, Lolita Bangun, pointed to Nigeria’s rising demand for palm oil and its potential as a lucrative investment hub, expecting the partnership to elevate exports and strengthen both nations’ industries.
