Angela Okorie Cautions Parents Against Kissing Children on the Mouth

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has advised parents to stop kissing their children on the mouth, describing the practice as unnecessary and potentially harmful.

The actress shared her concerns via an Instagram story, questioning why some parents prefer mouth-to-mouth kisses instead of safer alternatives such as kissing children on the cheek.

Angela argued that children should be protected from germs, noting that they are still very young and do not need exposure to infections that adults may unknowingly carry. She also expressed concern over individuals who kiss both their parents and children on the mouth, asking why the cheek is no longer considered appropriate.

“Stop kissing your kid’s mouth to mouth! What happened to the cheek? They are kids; they don’t need your infected mouth. Kiss them on the cheek,” she wrote, adding that she was unsure whether her reaction made her old-fashioned or simply concerned about children’s wellbeing.

Her comments triggered mixed reactions on social media, with users debating parenting styles and hygiene concerns.

Angela’s remarks echo similar concerns raised in the past by other public figures. Former on-air personality Toolz had previously appealed to Nigerians not to kiss her baby after childbirth, while Mabel Makun, ex-wife of comedian Ayo Makun, has also questioned the appropriateness of kissing babies, citing health and safety reasons.
