Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded significant operational successes against terrorists in the North East, neutralising several insurgents, repelling coordinated attacks, and recovering a cache of weapons during multiple engagements in Borno State.
In a well-coordinated dawn operation on January 28, 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Sector 1, carried out a surprise night-dawn attack on terrorist positions at Bula Dalo, killing more than 12 terrorists and forcing the remaining fighters to flee in disarray.
Military sources disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of assorted weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher, and one multiple grenade launcher.
In a related operation at the Garno terrorist camp, troops of Sector 1 further degraded terrorist capabilities by neutralising six additional terrorists, destroying their logistics and life-support structures, and recovering a large quantity of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition, among other items.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, successfully repelled an ISWAP attack on their location at Sabon Gari in the early hours of January 29. The terrorists launched the assault with support from multiple armed drones, briefly breaching part of the defensive perimeter.
However, gallant troops swiftly regrouped, resisted the assault, and restored full control of the location with timely reinforcements from nearby units. The military confirmed that while the position was secured, some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) lost their lives in the course of the fierce engagement.
An excavator and a lowbed truck were also damaged during the armed drone attack. Troops are currently exploiting the area as operations continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement and operational space.
Commending the troops for their courage and professionalism, the Military High Command praised their gallantry and urged them to remain vigilant, resilient, and aggressive in confronting terrorist threats across the region.
The development underscores the Nigerian military’s sustained commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North East.
