Alleged bandit attack on FUK, false, misleading- Official

The Federal University of Kashere (FUK) has refuted a social media report alleging that the institution was attacked by bandits.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the Chief Information Officer of the university, Janet Ezekiel, and made available to journalists in Gombe on Saturday.

Ezekiel described the report as false, misleading and a calculated attempt to cause panic among students and members of the public, as well as to disrupt the ongoing first semester examinations.

She clarified that no such incident occurred within the university community and urged the public to completely disregard the information circulating on social media.

According to her, the university management, in collaboration with security agencies, including the police, has the situation fully under control, and academic activities are proceeding normally without any disruption.

She further reassured parents, guardians and the general public that there is no cause for alarm, while advising everyone to rely solely on verified and official university communication channels for accurate information.
