Nollywood actor and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has expressed outrage after discovering that his film, The Silent Intruder, is streaming on Tubi without his consent.

The actor revealed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, saying he came across the movie while trying to relax at home. According to him, the version available on the platform appears to be the same one released in Nigerian cinemas.

“I spent millions on this project, so how exactly does my movie end up on Tubi without my knowledge or consent?” he wrote, calling out FilmOne Entertainment, which handled the film’s cinema distribution.

Directed by Uyoyo Adia, The Silent Intruder premiered in cinemas on February 9, 2024. The drama thriller features a cast that includes Uche Montana, Venita Akpofure, and Lucy Ameh.

The film follows Catherine Philips, a woman who seeks therapy to repair her troubled marriage, only to uncover a dangerous obsession. Egbi plays the role of Zaki Bond and also served as the film’s executive producer.

His claims have raised concerns within the Nigerian film industry, particularly around intellectual property protection, licensing agreements, and transparency in film distribution deals.

The development has sparked wider conversations among stakeholders about how locally produced content is managed and monetised on global streaming platforms.
