The United States sharply increased its aircraft imports in February, with total purchases rising to $1.6 billion, according to data from the US National Statistics Service.

The figure represents more than double the previous month’s imports, marking a 2.2-fold increase as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continued to build.

Data shows that European manufacturers dominated the US supply chain during the period. France accounted for the largest share of aircraft deliveries, making up 66.5% of total imports. Other key suppliers included Canada with 13.3%, Brazil at 8%, Germany at 6.7%, and Switzerland contributing 3.9%.

The surge in imports comes amid heightened global uncertainty and growing concerns over potential conflict in the Middle East, which could disrupt supply chains and drive up energy prices.

Recent statements from US officials have signalled a preference for diplomatic solutions in the region, though contingency planning remains ongoing.

Analysts say the increase in aircraft imports may reflect efforts by US companies to secure assets and strengthen logistics capacity in anticipation of possible market disruptions.
