Abuja Court Remands Pastor Over Alleged Rape, Sexual Abuse of Minor
An Abuja-based cleric, Pastor Amos Isah, founder of the Prophetic Victory Voice of Fire Ministry, has been remanded in custody by the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwarimpa pending verification of his earlier bail records.
Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi ordered that the defendant be held in custody at the discretion of the court when the case resumed hearing on the allegations of rape and related sexual offences.
Isah, 39, pleaded not guilty to an eight-count charge brought against him by the prosecution.
The charges against him include rape of a minor, sexual exploitation, coercion, abduction, and various forms of emotional, psychological, and indecent abuse, all allegedly committed against a 14-year-old girl identified in court documents as B.Z.J.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences occurred on or about May 26, 2025, in Gwagwalada, Abuja. It was further alleged that the cleric lured the minor into his church office before committing the offences.
Prosecutors stated that the charges are brought under provisions of the Child’s Rights Act 2003, the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, and the Penal Code Laws, covering offences such as rape, sexual exploitation, coercion, gross indecency, abduction, and acts detrimental to the welfare of a child.
The defendant is specifically accused of violating sections relating to rape, sexual exploitation, emotional and psychological abuse, intimidation, and abduction of a minor.
The court ordered that Isah remain in custody pending further proceedings and adjourned the case until June 30, 2026, for continuation of hearing.
