Popular gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has urged Nigerians to intensify prayers for the safe return of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State, insisting that President Bola Tinubu and security agencies are making efforts to secure their release.

Speaking in a video that has gone viral on social media, Alaseyori cautioned against politicising the ongoing hostage situation, stressing that prayer remains crucial in the rescue efforts.

According to her, while many people believe their prayers have not yielded results, spiritual intervention is still necessary to support security operations.

“So many people are saying the prayers they are praying are not working. But believe me, the prayers are working. Don’t let anybody use you for any political agenda,” she said.

The singer maintained that neither President Tinubu nor Vice President Kashim Shettima should be accused of neglecting the crisis, noting that security personnel are actively working to rescue the victims.

“You cannot say the President and Vice President are not doing what they are supposed to do. They are working. Security operatives may even be close to where the children are being held and still face challenges. That is why prayer is important,” she added.

Alaseyori further appealed to Nigerians to unite in prayers for the country and the abducted victims instead of assigning blame.

“Let’s pray for Nigeria. Every individual should pray for these children. We all need prayers. You can’t blame one man that God has placed in a position,” she said.

The appeal comes as 46 students and staff members from Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State remain in captivity after being abducted by gunmen on May 15.

The situation took a tragic turn following reports that one of the kidnapped teachers, Michael Oyedokun, was killed by the abductors amid ongoing ransom demands.

Authorities have yet to secure the release of the remaining hostages as efforts continue to bring them home safely.
